My Story

ORGANIC CONCRETE SCULPTOR

Vero Reato lives and works in Metz, France After studying Product Design at the Beaux-Arts de Nancy in 1990 and two years of computer graphics at the CNBDI in Angoulême, she has worked on various aspects of creation: videos, computer graphics, illustrations, murals, fresco restoration – an inventive curiosity alternating new technologies and know-how. In 2013, her desire to reconnect with object design and create outdoor paintings led her to a material that has become a real revolution in the construction field: Ultra High Performance Fiber Concrete (UHPC). Its flexibility of implementation, mechanical performances, and infinite possibilities of use allow for unlimited creativity for indoor and outdoor wall and floor sculpture design.

My Profession

MY ART IS MY PASSION

Vero Reato uses Ultra High Performance Fiber Concrete and natural materials to create unique object designs. The conquest of this innovative concrete has opened up an unusual and, above all, daring mode of expression for creating wall and floor sculptures indoors and outdoors. Vero Reato experiments with the material’s capabilities to create abstract and natural forms using different shapes and textures. She apprehends a field of creation that unfolds in three dimensions reconnecting her with her passion and experience in object design.

I USE CONTRETE AS ART TOGETHER WITH NATURE TO MAGNIFY MINERALITY

My Style

COMBINING INDUSTRY WITH NATURE

The combined use of industrial concrete and natural materials to create artistic sculptures is representative of the integration of industry and nature we experience in real life.

Organic, mineral or plan-based materials are Vero Reato’s primary sources of inspiration.
She explores and interprets forms from nature as contemporary living design.
By combining natural forms or materials with concrete, her creations come to life.
Vero Reato creates sensitive, offbeat works in which mineral and organic elements merge seamlessly.
The concrete used is almost 10 years old. As it ages, it becomes emancipated, leaving a framework and codes that continue to amaze.
It creates wonder by its originality, challenges by its finesse, and surprises by its apparent lightness.
It disturbs the eye. You get lost in the material because it plays on imitation and mimicry.
Vero Reato works on her textures and dyes with the aim of always being as close to natural as possible.

With oxides, concrete can take on metallic aspects representing cast iron, rusty steel or black metal.
It tricks the eye, giving the illusion or wood, stumps and bark.
When it retains its mineral identity, it becomes coral, shells and concretions.
An unlimited range of possibilities is offered through its use in creation.
The inclusions of different mineral or organic materials enhance creations.

With wood and bamboo, we venture into the microcosm, the plant world.
The glass beads evoke dewdrops, represent the marine environment and reflect light.

Stainless steel rings provide an intergalactic experience, the ash (a nod to origion) transcends this material so poor in black diamonds, whilst mineral gold magnifies the mineral.

The glass beads evoke dewdrops, represent the marine environment and reflect light. The concrete is not polished with the intended purpose of highlighting imperfections such as air bubbles and cracks.
As a result, it becomes even more animated. Giving it a soul, bringing it life.

Antoine Lavoisier said: “Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed”. This confirms that life is part of everything that exists on Earth since the eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells at the foundation of life on Earth did not disappear but rather agglomerated to a rock forkm that allows microscopic beings to rise to the surface and then to the open air.
Thousands of years of agglomeration of living cells form the stone.
